Born on a dreary January day in the year 2000, young Jack Thomson took his first breath within the hallowed grounds of Scotland. Today, at the age of 26, the lad can be found scurrying about in the heart of battle as a central defensive midfielder for Kilmarnock. With a height of 5ft 10in (I suppose, a bit on the diminutive side by today's standards, wouldn't you agree?) - that's 1.8m for those of you who are metrically inclined - and a weight of 11st 4lb (or 72 kilograms if you wish to be all Continental), he's able to hold his own amongst the behemoths of the Scottish Premiership.
Our Jack, who's become rather fond of prancing about in a number 22 jersey, boasts a market value that's been considered to be within the region of £212K. If it's validation you're after, Transfermarkt will give you an earful.
Thomson has had quite a fleeting experience when it comes to donning the colours of football clubs, one might say. Rangers, if memory serves correct, were the unfortunate soul who lent him to Clyde, situated in League Two, in the winter of 2021. He then made a truly transatlantic leap by joining Orange County SC, somewhere in the US, as a loanee in May 2021. As if he hadn't had enough, he further diluted his ties with Rangers by joining Queen's Park, back at home, under the same arrangement in July 2021. Must've been homesick, don't you think?
And so, from 2022 to 2025, Thomson toiled for Queen's Park. A total of 80 appearances and a meagre three goals. A forgettable stint at best, especially given the grandeur of Scottish football now, wouldn't you agree? In January 2022, Queen's Park decided to pay actual money to Rangers to make Thomson's services permanent. Just like one of your long-term relationships, eh? No information was let slip regarding the pyrotechnics that parties usually reserve for such dealings, I'm afraid.
It seems the once great wanderer has finally docked his ship, anchoring his future—to a degree—with Kilmarnock in July 2025. Currently, in the 2025 - 2026 season, he's been a semi-regular fixture with 12 appearances. Furthermore, Kilmarnock have mustered enough faith in him to let him play in the Scottish Cup 2025 - 2026. Not too shabby, I'd say.
