Jackson Irvine, born 7 March 1993 in Australia, is an established midfielder predominantly plying his trade in the central midfield position for Germany's St. Pauli. Standing at 6 feet 2 inches in height (1.89m) and weighing a robust 12 stone 1 pound (77kg), Irvine is most identifiable on the pitch donned in his number 7 jersey. Along with his club representation, Irvine takes pride in representing his homeland on the global stage with the Australia national team.
In the winter of 2010, a fresh-faced, ambitious Irvine joined Scotland's famed Celtic football club. Initially signing on as a trainee, he worked his way into the first team squad, making his solo appearance during his debut season of 2012 - 2013.
Looking to cut his teeth and gain valuable playing experience, Irvine secured a loan spell to Kilmarnock, another top-tier Scottish football club. During the 2013 - 2014 season, Irvine made a healthy 27 appearances and even snatched a goal for himself.
The following year, Irvine found himself on the move again, this time alighting at Ross County in another loan spell. He made himself a regular feature on the pitch during the 2014 - 2015 season, appearing 28 times and scoring two goals. He returned to Ross County for the 2015 - 2016 season, this time not on loan, but as a signed player. His performance reflected his comfort, delivering another 36 appearances and two additional goals.
2016 saw Irvine bid farewell to Scotland, making a £250,000 move to Burton Albion of England's League One. The two seasons spent at Burton were industrious to say the least – Irvine made an impressive 45 league appearances and scored a commendable 11 goals. Not content to settle, Irvine was on the move again in 2017, commanding a fee of £2 million as he transferred to Hull City in the buoyant English Championship. His tenure at Hull was packed with activity, spanning three seasons, 107 appearances and a tally of 10 goals.
Most notably, Irvine's footballing journey saw a sudden break in June 2020 for an undisclosed reason. However, he returned to his familiar Scottish Premiership with Hibernian in January 2021 and made 15 appearances in league matches.
In July 2021, Irvine, ever the journeyman, shifted from Scotland's wet and windy pitches to the fervour and precision of Germany's Bundesliga, signing up with St.Pauli. Consistent as ever, he has since made 117 appearances and racked up a total of 15 goals over several seasons, including the ongoing 2024 – 2025 season.
