Jacob MacIntyre, a tempting prospect for the future, was born in the heartlands of Scotland on the 29th of January in the year of 2006. Now in his twentieth year, the young midfielder has yet to make his permanent mark on Scottish football. He plays primarily in the central midfield position for Hibernian and wears the number 30 jersey in a nod to his ambitions.
Standing at a sturdy 5ft 9in (1.76m) and weighing in at 11st 6lb (73kg), MacIntyre English examples of a midfielder with both the physical stature and technical ability to dictate the play in the heart of the pitch.
In the middle of the Scottish summer - July 2020 to be exact - MacIntyre joined Hibernian, a Premiership team. More of a slow-burning flare than a firecracker, MacIntyre made his first-team appearance in the 2023-2024 season, and thus far in the current season (2025-2026) he remains on the side-lines.
September 2024 saw a brief change of scene for the young lad. MacIntyre transferred on loan from Hibernian to Kelty Hearts, residing in League One. He returned to Hibernian - presumably a little wiser and certainly with a bit more experience - in June 2025.
Not the one to become comfortable within the stone-built walls of Easter Road, MacIntyre embarked on another journey in September 2025. This time, the midfielder found himself on loan at Arbroath, a team in the Championship. Here, the young chap made 18 first-team appearances and even managed to bag himself a couple of goals. His loan period having ended in January 2026, MacIntyre headed back to his home turf at Hibernian.
There is a sense that he has yet to show his full potential. In his debut season at Hibernian, MacIntyre made a single appearance, and he has yet to make an appearance in the current 2025-2026 season.
In the grand scheme of things, he is only just beginning to unfold the first chapters of his football career. One can only eagerly wait to see what Jacob MacIntyre’s journey in Scottish football will bring in the years to come, particularly as it unfolds amidst the grand narrative of Hibernian's efforts on the field.
