The Spanish born Javier Sánchez Broto, arriving on this mortal coil on 25 August 1971, is a former professional footballer. Standing at 6ft 1in (1.86m) tall and tipping the scales at 12st 12lb (82kg), Sánchez Broto was a goalkeeper by trade.
Sánchez Broto's football journey took him to Scotland in July 2000, when he joined Airdrieonians FC Junior Teams. Making a total of 23 first-team appearances in league matches during his 2000 - 2001 season at Airdrie, Sanchez Broto quickly made an impression.
In an interesting turn of events, March 2001 saw him joining Livingston FC in the Scottish Premiership. His stint at Livingston lasted for three seasons during which he made a significant contribution to the team with six, seventeen, and twenty-four first-team appearances in league matches for seasons 2000 - 2001, 2001 - 2002, and 2002 - 2003 respectively.
In January 2003, Sánchez Broto made a fateful move to Celtic FC, also in the Scottish Premiership. The transfer was not without its price tag - at around £25k, it was a notable purchase. During the 2002 - 2003 season at Celtic he made eight first-team appearances in league matches, before transferring to another club in June 2003.
His football career then saw him returning to his homeland, as he joined Real Murcia in the Second Division B/1 in Spain in August 2003. His 2003 - 2004 season with Real Murcia saw him make nine first-team appearances in league matches. Then in July 2004, he transferred from Real Murcia to Getafe in the LaLiga.
His services were well-utilized at Getafe in Spain, as evidenced by his 20 first-team appearances in league matches during the 2004 - 2005 season. However, in June 2006 Sánchez Broto transferred from Getafe to another club, drawing his football career to a close.
Sánchez Broto, even in the twilight of his career, shone brightly, leaving an indelible footprint on the clubs he represented.
