Jeremy Toljan, born in Stuttgart on 8 August 1994 (age 32), is a German right-back whose career has taken him from 1899 Hoffenheim through Borussia Dortmund, Celtic, Sassuolo and on to Levante.
His early senior grounding came at Hoffenheim, where his 2015-16 league season brought 18 appearances and one goal. He later moved to Borussia Dortmund, but the more useful part of that stage of his career came through loans rather than any great settling-in period.
Celtic entered the story in January 2019, when Toljan joined from Borussia Dortmund. It was a short spell rather than a defining one, but it gave Celtic a look at a player with decent Bundesliga schooling and the usual full-back blend of promise, athleticism and occasional untidiness.
Sassuolo is where his career took proper shape.
