Born on 26 June 1998, Colombian football player Jhon Lucumí is known for his solid play as a central defender. Currently making a name for himself with Bologna, his commanding presence on the pitch is imposing with his 1.87m (6ft 1in) height, weighing in at 84kg (13st 3lb). Lucumí takes pride in wearing his number 26 jersey, a number signifying his commitment and devotion to both his club and country.

His journey into professional football began back home in Colombia, with him honing his defensive prowess playing for Deportivo Cali in the Primera A. His effort, skill, and determination did not go unnoticed, eventually catching the eye of Genk in the Pro League in Belgium. According to Transfermarkt, Lucumí was transferred to Genk in July 2018 for £2m.

Throughout his time at Genk, Lucumí demonstrated an upward trajectory in his career. Making ten first team appearances during his debut season 2018-2019, his performance in the following seasons saw steady improvements. By 2020-2021, he was making 32 first team appearances and his growing market value reflected this.

The Italian Serie A club, Bologna, recognised Lucumí's potential and secured his transfer in August 2022 for almost £7m. In the subsequent years at Bologna, Lucumí has maintained his consistency with 29 and 32 first team appearances in the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 seasons respectively. He has represented Colombia on various occasions, notably in the World Cup Qualifiers South America 2024 - 2026 where he started in 13 matches. His international career also saw him start at the prestigious Copa America 2024.

Currently, Lucumí is valued at around £19m. While he may not have stepped foot on Celtic Park, his career reflects an ambitious and devoted defender known for his consistency and resilience on the pitch.
