Born on 26 June 1998 in Colombia, Jhon Lucumí is a seasoned defender known for his dominant presence in the centre back role. Lucumí began his European journey in July 2018, making a transfer from Deportivo Cali in the Colombian Primera A league to the Belgian Pro League with Genk, for a sum of around £2.3m. He had a promising start in Belgium, with a total of ten first-team appearances in his first season. Lucumí's game time continued to increase over the seasons, culminating in 32 appearances in the 2020 - 2021 season. In total, he made 91 appearances for Genk and scored 2 goals.
Following his successful stint with Genk, in August 2022, Lucumí made the switch to Bologna in the Italian Serie A for a fee around £7.2m.
