Jhon Lucumí, born 26 June 1998 (age 27), is a Colombia international centre-back whose senior career has settled most firmly at Bologna. Before Italy, his most productive league season came with Genk in 2019-2020, when he scored once in 22 appearances – a modest attacking return, which is hardly the point of his game.
Bologna is where his career has taken its clearest shape. Across four seasons he has made 123 league appearances and scored once, becoming a regular presence in the middle of their defence rather than a passing squad name. His current market value is around £21.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
He has remained heavily involved in 2025-2026, making 43 appearances for Bologna in all competitions, including 29 in Serie A, with one goal. He has also featured in the Coppa Italia, Supercoppa and Europa League, while continuing to play for Colombia in South American World Cup qualifying.
Lucumí’s career is now largely defined by his Bologna spell: a Colombian defender who moved on from Genk and became an important first-team player in Serie A, with club and international football still running in parallel.
