The humble Joe Rothwell, a creature born into this earth on the 11th of January 1995 in the renowned football factory of England, currently whiles away his time in the midfield for the merry band known as Rangers. Both the metrically inclined and the fans of imperial will be ecstatic to know that Mr Rothwell stands at a respectable 1.85m (or 6ft) and tips the scales at 77kg (or for those partial to the quaint stone, a smidgen over 12st). On any given day, one could spot him dashing about the pitch in the somewhat uninspiring number 6 jersey.
For those with a fascination for market value, or an overly keen finger ready to tap on that bookmarked betting site, the financial wizards at Transfermarkt have valued him at a thorough £1.3m.
Our journey with Mr Rothwell starts back in the long forgotten epoch of 2001, where as a wide-eyed trainee he joyfully found himself in the packs of the illustrious Manchester United. Little did he know that his career would soon be filled with the joys of transfer paperwork – an integral part of the beautiful game we all obviously love.
Our protagonist’s first dalliance with the thrilling world of loan transfers took place in the frosts of January 2015, when he migrated temporarily from the grandeur of Manchester United to the comparably quaint seaside resort of Blackpool.
Bouncing from club to club like a lonely electron, Mr. Rothwell found himself in 2016 with Oxford United, a side firmly ensconced in the Championship this time, where excitement thundered as he scored one whole goal across 33 appearances.
After the thrill of Oxford, one can only imagine the uncontainable anticipation Rothwell felt as he joined Blackburn Rovers in July 2018. However, it was not long till the call of a Scottish adventure led Rothwell up to the Premiership with Rangers, yet another undisclosed fee fueling the football industry's insatiable appetite for secrecy.
Now, in the 2025 - 2026 season at Rangers, our trusty number 6 has already racked up eight league appearances, to the undoubtedly ecstatic cheers of his many fans. His contributions to the various cups and leagues are notable, if not excessively impressive, with a handful of appearances and the occasional goal to boot.
