Joël Piroe, born on 2 August 1999 in the Netherlands, currently wears the number 10 jersey as a forward for Leeds United. Standing at 6ft (approximately 1.85 metres) and weighing 11st 9lb (approximately 74 kg), Piroe's primary position is a striker. At the age of 26, he has launched a promising career in English football.
According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is around £13m. His journey in professional football began in July 2014 when he joined PSV in the Eredivisie as a trainee. During the 2020 - 2021 season at PSV, Piroe made his mark by making 11 first team appearances and scoring a goal.
His emerging talent was recognised and in August 2019, he was loaned to Sparta Rotterdam, another Eredivisie team in the Netherlands. Here, he established a solid performance with 18 first team appearances and two goals in the 2019 - 2020 season. After his loan tenure at Sparta Rotterdam, he returned to PSV in June 2020, and during the following 2020 - 2021 season, he again made 11 first team appearances and scored one goal.
Piroe's career then shifted towards English football in July 2021, when he transferred from PSV to Swansea City, a Championship team in England, for a fee of around £1m. During his time at Swansea, Piroe matured as a striker, making 45 first team appearances and scoring 22 goals in the 2021 - 2022 season. His impressive form continued into the next season (2022 - 2023), where he made 43 first team appearances and netted 19 goals.
In August 2023, a big break came for Piroe as he transferred from Swansea City to the Premier League team Leeds United, for a fee close to £12m. Since joining Leeds, he has been an active force in the team, making 42 first team appearances and scoring 13 goals in the 2023 - 2024 season. He continued his stellar performance in the 2024 - 2025 season, with 46 first team appearances and 19 goals. Presently, in the 2025 - 2026 season, he has made ten first team appearances.
Apart from his league performances, Piroe also participated in the FA Cup 2025 - 2026 for Leeds United and the League Cup 2025 - 2026, starting in one match in each competition.
