John Guidetti, born 15th April 1992 in Sweden, is a former professional footballer who adopted the position of a forward, more specifically a striker. Standing tall at 1.85 m (6 feet) and weighing 79 kg (12 stone 6 pounds), Guidetti's career has seen him play across various leagues.
His journey as a footballer saw its first significant development in April 2010 when he transferred from Manchester City to IF Brommapojkarna in Sweden on loan. During his debut season, he made eight appearances on the first team, netting three goals in league games.
Later in November 2010, Guidetti was loaned to Burnley, another Premier League club, from Manchester City. During his time at Burnley in the 2010-2011 season, Guidetti appeared five times for the first team and scored a solitary goal in the league.
In August 2011, yet another loan deal came through for Guidetti, this time to Feyenoord in the Netherlands. His net seemed to be on fire during the 2011-2012 season as he scored a staggering 20 league goals from 23 appearances.
His next move took place in January 2014, this time within English borders. He was loaned from Manchester City to Stoke City and made six appearances in the league throughout the 2013-2014 season.
Come September 2014, Guidetti got his Celtic call. Loaned from Manchester City to Celtic, he enjoyed a decent run in the 2014-2015 season, marking 24 appearances with eight goals. Looking back at his tenure at Celtic, Guidetti did seem to have a knack for the back of the net, scoring eight times in 24 appearances. Here, he certainly impressed the spectators with his classy finishes and eye for the goal.
In July 2015, Guidetti transferred from Manchester City to Celta Vigo in Spain, where he made 35 appearances and netted seven goals in the 2015-2016 season. His final season tally across three seasons at the club stood at 11 goals from 66 appearances.
Guidetti was loaned out by Celta Vigo to Alaves in January 2018 for the remainder of the season. His experience at Alaves proved fruitful, prompting a permanent switch in July 2018 for a fee of ÂŁ3.6m. Across five seasons, he accumulated nine goals from 76 appearances.
Through the Babylon of player transfers, Guidetti found himself at Hannover 96 on a loan stint in January 2020. He netted thrice amidst 14 appearances for the club but soon returned to Alaves on loan completion in July 2020.
In July 2022, Guidetti transferred from Alaves to AIK in Sweden and over the course of four seasons made 69 appearances, netting nine goals.
By December 2025, Guidetti was once more on the transfer carousel, bringing an end to his AIK tenure and stepping into the unknown.
