Jon McLaughlin, born on 9 September 1987 (age 38), is a Scottish goalkeeper whose career has been built more on persistence than noise. He worked his way through the English lower leagues, with Bradford City giving him the first sustained platform after an early senior appearance in 2008-09.
He later had longer spells with Burton Albion and Sunderland, establishing himself as a reliable first-team keeper before returning to Scotland with Hearts. That Tynecastle season sharpened his profile enough to take him back south, then eventually across to Rangers.
At Ibrox, McLaughlin was part of the squad that won the Scottish Premiership and the Scottish Cup. He was not the headline act, and nobody sensible would pretend otherwise, but he had his place in a successful period for them.
He is now listed as a Middlesbrough goalkeeper, wearing squad number 33. His career has taken him from the lower reaches of English football to prominent Scottish clubs and back into the English game, with a solid body of senior work behind him.
