Considered a consistent presence on the field, Jonah Ayunga, born on the 24th of May in 1997, is a forward who has primarily made his mark as a right winger. His current station is with St Mirren. Standing at 6ft (1.85m) and weighing 12st 3lb (78kg), his physicality is noticeable. He chooses to wear the number 11 jersey.
Kicking off his transfer journey in January of 2017, Ayunga moved on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion to Sligo Rovers, based in the Republic of Ireland's Premier Division. His debut season at Sligo was punctuated with 21 first team appearances and four goals that he netted in league matches.
Ayunga didn't rest on his laurels, instigating another loan transfer mere months later in July of 2017 to Galway United. Unfortunately, his time at Galway was less fruitful, making only two first team appearances in league matches.
In July 2018, Ayunga made the permanent move from Brighton & Hove Albion to Sutton United, a club in England's National League.
A cycle of transfers followed. In November 2018, Ayunga transferred to Havant & Waterlooville, another team in the National League South in England. This was, once again, a short stint, and Ayunga returned to Sutton United the following month, in December 2018. Following a period of seven months, he once again found himself moving, back to Havant & Waterlooville.
Adding a new club to his roster, Ayunga made the move to Bristol Rovers in the League Two in England in July of 2020. This, however, was a brief stopover and he was on the move again in July 2021, this time to Morecambe.
Finally, in July 2022, Ayunga made his most pivotal move to St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership. Here's where his performance truly started to shine. Over the course of four seasons, Ayunga made a significant impact with 86 first team appearances and an accumulation of 12 goals in league matches, plus another two goals he added to his tally in the League Cup 2025 - 2026. He has so far clocked in 22 first team appearances and scored three goals in the current season of 2025 - 2026.
Over the years, Jonah Ayunga has not just transported his skill set, but has consistently improved his game and performed at a professional level no matter the shirt he wore. The journey may have been rife with transfers, but each team has added a piece to the player he is today. Today, St Mirren benefits from that growth and experience, and it's certain more chapters in Jonah Ayunga's career are yet to be written.
