Joos Valgaeren, born in Belgium on 3rd of March, 1976, is an accomplished former football player of note. Having established himself as a solid central defender, Valgaeren, who measures at 6ft 1in (1.87m) and weighs about 14st 4lb (91kg), first graced the football scene with Racing Club Mechelen in Belgium's Derde Klasse where he made his football debut in the 1994/1995 season.
After four league appearances in his debut season with Mechelen, Valgaeren's prominence had gained significant traction by the end of the 1995/1996 season, where he had made 30 appearances and scored four goals. He followed up the next season making 28 first team appearances and scoring one goal in league matches.
In July 1997, Valgaeren moved from Belgium to the Netherlands to join Roda JC in the Eerste Divisie. His time at Roda JC started quite well, with Valgaeren making 22 first appearances and scoring once in the 1997/1998 league matches. By the end of the 1999/2000 season, he had made a total of 30 appearances and scored five goals for Roda JC.
Valgaeren's performances raised eyebrows in the Scottish Premiership, as he made a £3.8m move to Celtic in July 2000. His impact at the Scottish giants was instant; Valgaeren made 35 appearances and scored three times in his first season with Celtic. Despite a decrease in goal count in the following season, Valgaeren remained a constant in the Celtic defence line, featuring in 20 matches.
In the 2002/2003 season, Valgaeren was featured consistently in the Celtic line-up making 35 appearances and scoring twice. He made significantly fewer appearances the next season due to a struggle with injury but bounced back to make 19 appearances in the 2004/2005 season. Valgaeren transferred from Celtic in June 2005, ending a illustrious five-year spell at the club.
He returned to his home country, Belgium, to play for Club Brugge in the Pro League. He spent three seasons there, making a combined total of 30 appearances across the campaigns. Valgaeren then had a Dutch return, joining Emmen in the Eerste Divisie in May 2008. Following two seasons with the Dutch side, which saw him make 17 appearances in total, Valgaeren's football career came to a close at the conclusion of the 2009/2010 season.
