Jordan Obita, born on 8th December 1993, and hailing from England, is a convincingly strong defender chiefly operating as a left-back for Hibernian at 5 foot 10 inches (1.8m) tall and weighing 11 stone 6 pounds (73kg). The Ugandan national sports the number 21 jersey for Hibs.
Obita's football journey launched in earnest in July 2010 when Reading signed him to their League One English side. He made his Reading first-team debut in the 2013-2014 season, clocking 34 appearances and a goal to boot. Over the years, he became a familiar face on Reading's line-up, making 43 appearances in the 2014-2015 season, 26 in the 2015-2016 season, 37 episodes (with two goals) in the 2016-2017 season, a couple of glimpses in the 2017-2018 season, and he found his scoring boots again in the 2019-2020 season with 21 appearances and two goals.
His early years were interspersed with loans. January 2012 saw him temporarily swapping the Madejski Stadium for Barnet's Hive where he chalked up five appearances in his debut season. An ensuing loan to Gillingham in March 2012 proved more fruitful with six appearances and three goals in the offering. Further temporary homes were found at Portsmouth, where he managed eight appearances and a goal in the 2012-2013 season, and Oldham Athletic, where he recorded eight outings.
More significant changes were afoot in November 2020 when Obita traded Reading for Oxford United, only to make the switch to Wycombe Wanderers in the League One just two months later. Following the undisclosed transfer fee move, he pulled on the Wycombe jersey 37 times over the next two seasons.
The lure of Scottish football proved irresistible in July 2023, with a move north to Hibernian in the bag. His debut season resulted in 34 appearances and a goal, followed by 35 appearances the following season. He has so far clocked up twelve appearances in the current 2025-2026 season.
In addition to his league commitments, Obita has shown up for Hibernian in both the League Cup and Europa League Qualifiers, with two starts each, and four starts in the Conference League Qualifiers in the 2025-2026 season. He's also notably a regular feature in the Uganda national team, pitching in for four starts in the World Cup Qualifiers for Africa 2024-2026.
