Oh, sit back lads and lasses, for I've another tale of football's spinning wheel of fortune. This time featuring wee Josh Mulligan, a spritely lad born on a nippily cold Scottish morn on the 12th of November in 2002. Primarily knocking about as a central midfielder for the outfit known as Hibernian, he's not the tallest flower in the garden, standing firm at a none too shabby 5ft 8in (1.75m), and tipping the old bathroom scales at around 12st 1lb (77kg). You'll mostly catch him adorning the number 20 jersey, a fine fit for him, and he's gotten a run out or two for the Scotland national team, no less.
The number crunchers over at Transfermarkt reckon he's worth about £850k. Not a bad bit of change for kicking a ball about, if you ask me.
And where did this young lad cut his footballing teeth? Dundee. Joined their ranks as a fresh-faced trainee back in July 2017, it was. After running a lap or two around the pitch and fetching the senior players' shin pads, he managed to make one first team appearance in the 2018/19 season. Not a roaring start, let's say. But evidently he was a slow burner, for he found a bit of a stride in the following seasons, managing a decent number of appearances and amassing a not too shabby total of seven goals for the lads at Dundee all the way through to the 2024 - 2025 season.
In the meantime he had brief flings with Cove Rangers and Peterhead in 2020 and 2021, respectively, both on loan - a more equivalent idea of musical chairs for footballers. He did return back to Dundee each time, like a faithful boomerang.
However, in July of 2025, he decided a change of scenery was needed and upped sticks to join Hibernian, joining for a fee apparently only whispered in the hallowed halls of the clubs involved. Currently, in the 2025 - 2026 season, he has made an appearance 19 times for Hibernian in league matches and chipped in with a goal as well.
Aside from just the league matches, he's also dipped his toe in the water of the League Cup 2025 - 2026 for Hibernian, racking up one goal in one start and one appearance as a substitute. Also had fancied a bigger stage, appeared in the Europa League Qualifiers 2025 - 2026 for Hibernian with two starts, and even found the back of the net once in the Conference League Qualifiers 2025 - 2026 for Hibernian, across four starts. Just another day in football, isn't it.
