Joshua Brenet, born on the 20th of March 1994 in the Netherlands, is a 31-year old defender who predominantly features on the right flank for Livingston FC. Brenet stands at a respectable 5ft 11in (1.81m) tall and weighs in at about 11st 9lb (74kg). He dons the number 30 jersey and represents the Curacao national team on the international stage.
Brenet's football journey began in July 2011 when he joined PSV in the Eredivisie as a trainee. Brenet's baptism in the world of professional football commenced in the 2013-2014 season where he made 12 appearances for PSV. Brenet featured 18 times and scored a goal in the following 2014-2015 season. In Brenet's third season at PSV, he made 27 appearances, and in the 2016-2017 season, he played 20 times and scored once. His final season at PSV, 2017-2018, saw him make 32 appearances and finding the back of the net once.
In July 2018, Brenet transferred to 1899 Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, Germany for a fee believed to be around Β£3.2m. In his first season at Hoffenheim, Brenet made 14 appearances and scored twice. However, his game time reduced in the 2020-2021 season, making only a solitary appearance.
Brenet was sent on loan to Vitesse in the Eerste Divisie, Netherlands in January 2020. In the 2019-2020 season there, he made four appearances. In June 2020, Brenet returned from his loan to 1899 Hoffenheim, where he made 14 appearances and scored two goals in the 2018-2019 season and made a singular appearance in the 2020-2021 season.
In January 2022, Brenet made a move to FC Twente in the Eredivisie, Netherlands. At his new club, in the 2021-2022 season, Brenet featured 13 times and scored two goals. The following 2022-2023 season saw Brenet play a handful of games, a total of 32, and score seven goals. He also made 15 appearances and scored twice in the 2023-2024 season.
September 2024 saw Brenet transfer to Al-Rayyan in the Stars League, Qatar. Only one year later, in October 2025, Brenet made the move to Livingston FC in the Scottish Premiership. In his current season, 2025-2026, at Livingston, Brenet has made a solid 14 appearances.
He's also left his mark in Cup and international competitions. Brenet started once in the Scottish Cup 2025-2026 for Livingston, started four times and made a substitute appearance in World Cup Qualifiers North & Central America 2024-2026 for Curacao, and started twice for Curacao in the Gold Cup 2025.
