Junior Adamu, born on 6 June 2001 in Nigeria, is a forward who primarily plays as a striker for Celtic. Standing at a height of 5ft 11in (1.82m) and weighing in at 11st 6lb (73kg), he sports the number 9 jersey on the pitch.
According to Transfermarkt, Adamu's current market value is estimated to be around £3.5m.
Adamu started his professional football journey in July 2015 when he joined FC Liefering in the 2. Liga in Austria as a trainee. Through 2018 and 2021, Adamu made multiple appearances for FC Liefering, impressing the higher-ups with his ability to find the back of the net.
In February 2021, he moved on loan to St. Gallen in the Super League in Switzerland, where he also showed his striking capabilities. Then, in July that year, Adamu secured a transfer from FC Liefering to Red Bull Salzburg in the Bundesliga in Austria, the details of which remain undisclosed.
During his stint at Red Bull Salzburg, spanning the 2021-2023 seasons, Adamu managed to maintain a steady stream of appearances and goals. He was subsequently transferred to Freiburg in the Bundesliga in Germany for a significant fee of around £8.1m in July 2023.
After joining Freiburg, Adamu endured a period of fluctuation in his appearances and goal-scoring exploits, according to season records between 2023 and 2026. An interesting chapter in Adamu's career unfolded in January 2024 when he was transferred from Freiburg to their second team, Freiburg II. However, this move was short-lived as he was pulled back into the main Freiburg fold only a month later.
In February 2026, Adamu embarked on a new journey, moving on loan from Freiburg to Celtic in the Premiership in Scotland. Here, he has started to make his mark despite only making three first team appearances in league matches so far. Of note, Adamu had the chance to participate in Scottish Cup 2025 - 2026 for Celtic, where he netted a goal in his one appearance as a substitute, and the Europa League 2025 - 2026 for Celtic, where he also struck once in a single start.
