Our lad Lewis Mayo, born the 19th of March, 2000 - making him a sprightly 25 years of age, hails from Scotland and is known for his determination on the pitch, primarily as a central defender for Kilmarnock. A towering presence, he stands at 6ft 3in (1.91m) and weighs about 12st 12lb (82kg). He's got a penchant for the number 5 jersey, must be something about prime numbers, I suppose.
Long before he got into the habit of trotting about in a Kilmarnock kit, Mayo cut his footballing teeth with the Rangers back in 2016, where he was but a wee trainee, eager to prove his mettle. Following this, the lad must have developed a fondness for luggage since his footballing career set on the path of a hot potato - getting passed around, but never really settling down.
He was transferred out on loan to Partick Thistle in January 2020, and then to Dunfermline Athletic later that same year in September. Around the summer of 2021, Partick Thistle managed to grab hold of him again for a brief stint. You'd think the lad would be weary, but no, in July 2022, he found himself playing for Kilmarnock, again on loan.
His debut season at Kilmarnock in 2022-2023 saw Mayo making 34 first team appearances, while the succeeding seasons saw the lad appearing a total of 73 times, scoring one goal that we're sure the lads down at the pub wouldn't let him forget. That's a total of 107 games, if you're one to care about figures.
Finally breaking free from the cycle of loan transfers, in July 2023, Mayo was transferred from the Rangers to Kilmarnock, for an undisclosed sum. Since then, he's been playing harder than a two-pound steak.
A mainstay in the 2025-2026 seasons, Mayo made six starts in the League Cup and one in the Scottish Cup. Good on ya, lad. Let's hope he keeps his boots on tight and continues to give us something to cheer about.
