Lewis Morgan, a Scottish born footballer (September 30, 1996) currently serves his professional career as a forward and primarily plays as a left winger for New York Red Bulls. Standing at 5ft 10in (1.78m) with a weight of 11st 11lb (75kg), Morgan confidently sports the number 9 jersey.
Morgan first joined the Scottish Premiership with St Mirren in September 2013. In his debut season 2014 - 2015, he made eight first team appearances in league matches. In the following season, he made 18 appearances and scored his first goal in league match. His performance progressed remarkably, as evidenced by his 33 appearances and six goals in the 2016-2017 season, and 22 appearances with nine goals in 2017-2018 season at St Mirren.
In January 2018, Morgan signed with Celtic, another Premiership side in Scotland, for a transfer fee of around £300k. He had a limited role within the team, only making nine league appearances in the 2018-2019 season. In the following season, he totaled five appearances. In an unexpected turn of events, Morgan was loaned back to his former club, St Mirren in the same year. He managed to continue his impressive performance and skill set as evident in his first team appearances in league matches.
After his loan ended in July 2018, Morgan returned to Celtic. However, it appeared to have limited opportunities for him as he only made an insignificant number of appearances in league matches in the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 seasons.
Moving with the tides, Morgan sought new opportunities and was loaned to Sunderland in the Premier League in England in January 2019. On completion of his loan, he returned to Celtic in June the same year, contributing to nine first team appearances in the seasons that followed.
In January 2020, Morgan’s career took a transatlantic turn. He signed with Inter Miami in the MLS for approximately £360k. He had a fairly impressive run, making 23 appearances and scoring five goals in the 2020 season, and 34 appearances with two goals in the 2021 season. Displaying his determination to advance his career, in December 2021, Morgan transferred to New York Red Bulls for a substantial amount of £1m.
Morgan seemed to have found his stride in his new home, displaying an outstanding performance with 32 first team appearances and scoring 14 goals. He kicked off the 2023 season with five first team appearances in league matches, followed by 29 appearances and 13 goals in the 2024 season. Currently, in the 2025 season, Morgan has made three first team appearances.
Participation in the MLS 2025 marked a notable point in Morgan’s career journey with two starts and one appearance as a substitute, playing for the New York Red Bulls. He is, indeed, a force to be reckoned with on the pitch.
