Liam Donnelly, born on 7th March 1996 in Northern Ireland, is a 5ft 11in, 12st 6lb midfielder currently playing as a central defensive midfielder for Kilmarnock. Operating with the number 22 emblazoned on his back, Donnelly's journey in professional football began at Dungannon Swifts back in the 2011-12 season.
Still wet behind the ears, Donnelly made seven appearances in his debut season for Dungannon Swifts. Whilst these first team experiences were limited, they were instrumental in his growth as a player.
In the 2015-16 season, he swapped shores to Crawley Town, making ten first team appearances. It was a minor role, but a foot in the English game nonetheless.
His stay in England continued as he joined Hartlepool United in the following season. Here, he became a more prominent figure, with 32 appearances in the 2016-17 season. The subsequent season was similarly impressive, with 22 appearances, rounding off with a pair of goals to his credit.
Following his stint in England, Donnelly returned to the Scottish soil in 2018, donning the Motherwell jersey. His first season saw him participate in seven games, netting once. The 2019-20 season was personally successful; he notched 22 appearances and seven goals. However, in the 2020-21 season, his appearances significantly dropped, featuring only once, before seeing a rise again in the subsequent season with 23 appearances.
Post Motherwell, Donnelly moved to Kilmarnock in the 2022-23 season. Here, he added 22 appearances and two goals to his stats that year, followed by another 27 appearances in the 2023-24 season. His current season, however, hasn't seen him make a first team appearance yet.
Beyond his club commitments, Donnelly was also seen in limited roles in the Scottish Cup and Europa League Qualifiers.
