Liam Shaw, an English-born footballer born on 12 March 2001, is a midfielder primarily filling the role of a central midfielder for Northampton Town. Standing at 6ft 1in tall (1.87m), and carrying a weight of 11st 6lb (73kg), he proudly wears the number 29 jersey.
Having expressed his passion for football from a young age, Shaw joined Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship as a trainee in July 2017. His debut season (2019-2020) witnessed only two first team appearances in league matches. However, in the following season (2020-2021), Shaw demonstrated significant growth, making 19 first team appearances and scoring one goal in league matches.
In July 2021, a new opportunity arose as Shaw was transferred from Sheffield Wednesday to Celtic in the Premiership division in Scotland for a fee of around £300k. His time with Celtic during the season (2021-2022) was surprisingly short-lived, with Shaw only making a single appearance in league matches.
Within six months of joining Celtic, in January 2022, Shaw was loaned out to Motherwell, also in the Scottish Premiership, where he made seven first team appearances in league matches. His dry spell in Scotland continued, leading to another loan in September 2022, this time to Morecambe in the National League in England. Here, Shaw had more game opportunities, making 28 first team appearances and netting two goals in league matches.
Following closely on his heels was another loan to Wigan Athletic in the League One in England in July 2023. Subsequently, he was on the move again in October 2024, this time transferring from Celtic in the Premiership in Scotland to Fleetwood Town in the League Two in England.
Shaw's most recent switch was in January 2025 when he transferred from Fleetwood Town to Northampton Town in the League One in England for an undisclosed fee. His current season (2025-2026) at Northampton Town has yet to see Shaw make any first team appearances in league matches.
During his brief stint at Celtic, Shaw didn't manage to make a significant mark, potentially due to the swift loans and transfers that followed his joining, which may have stemmed from both the player's and club's mutual interests. The midfielder, numbering multiple seasons at Celtic, experienced a varied scale of challenges. His contribution to the team was limited owing to factors beyond the field, and his consistent pursuit of advancement and growth eventually saw him exiting Celtic in pursuit of ventures anew.
