Liam Shaw, born on 12 March 2001, is currently a central midfielder plying his trade with Northampton Town, tipping the scales at 73kg (11st 6lb) to compliment his height of 1.87m (6ft 1in). In the pure tradition of the beautiful game, he dons the number 29 jersey.
Shaw embarked his football career as a trainee with Sheffield Wednesday in England's Championship in July 2017. His introduction to the professional field came during the 2019 - 2020 season when he made a pair of first team appearances for Sheffield Wednesday. The following season, Shaw enhanced his profile, registering 19 first team appearances and tallying a single goal.
The Celtic chapter of his career started in July 2021 following a transfer from Sheffield Wednesday for a fee of approximately £300k. Shaw's time in the green and white hoops was however, brief and rather uneventful, with only a solitary league appearance to his name in the 2021 - 2022 season.
Following his short stint at Celtic, Shaw embarked on a series of loan moves, the first of which was a loan transfer to Motherwell in January 2022. He subsequently took to the field seven times during the 2021 - 2022 season.
Later in September 2022, Shaw found his way on loan to Morecambe in the National League, England, where his performance was commendable, making 28 first team appearances and scoring twice over the course of the 2022 - 2023 season.
His connection with Celtic terminated in July 2023 following a loan transfer to Wigan Athletic in England's League One.
Fast forward to October 2024, Shaw switched allegiances again, transferring from Celtic to Fleetwood Town in England's League Two. This was followed by a successive transfer in January 2025 - always on the move - this time to Northampton Town in League One. The exact numbers behind the transfer remain a mystery, cloaked in the term 'undisclosed fee'.
As per the current 2025 - 2026 season, Shaw is yet to make his debut for Northampton Town. We'll watch this young lad's career unfold with an air of anticipation.
