Liel Abada, born in Israel on 3 October 2001, now 24 years of age, is a notable forward, primarily fulfilling the role of a right winger for Charlotte FC. His physical attributes include a height of 5ft 6in (1.68m) and a weight of 10st 9lb (68kg). He typically adorns the number 11 jersey on the pitch. His footballing talents have even seen him earn caps for the Israel national team.
Abada began his football journey in July 2014, joining Maccabi Petah Tikva in the Liga Leumit of Israel as a trainee. His debut season in 2018-2019 saw him making two appearances for the club in league matches. In the following season, he made a significant leap, getting 29 first team appearances in league matches and netting eight goals. The 2020-2021 season at Maccabi Petah Tikva saw Abada further improving his game, as he marked 36 first team appearances with 12 goal contributions in league matches.
July 2021 marked a significant change in Abada's career, as he transferred from Maccabi Petah Tikva to the Scottish Premiership side, Celtic, for a fee close to £3.6m. His time at Celtic was a fruitful tenure during the seasons preceding 2013, with him scoring ten goals in 36 first team appearances in league matches in the 2021-2022 season, repeating the same performance in the 2022-2023 season. However, his appearances and goal tally petered out to nine first team appearances with a single goal contribution in his final season, 2023-2024, at Celtic.
In March 2024, Abada sought pastures anew, transferring from Celtic to Charlotte FC in the MLS, USA, for a sum of approximately £6m. This change in scenery proved beneficial, as he scored seven goals in 24 appearances for Charlotte in the 2024 season. He further notched up five goals in 32 first team appearances in the 2025 season.
Beyond his strong performances during the regular seasons, Abada has also shone in the playoffs, participating in the 2025 MLS Cup Play Offs with one start and one substitute appearance for Charlotte. Looking towards the future, Abada is preparing to continue playing for Charlotte FC in 2026, having already had three starts in the MLS thus far.
