Mark Burchill, born 18 August 1980 in Scotland, was a dedicated forward. He stood at 5ft 8in (1.73m) and carried a weight of 11st 9lb (74kg), packing a considerable force on the field. Burchill primarily thrived in the role of a striker, often being the key to orchestrating decisive moves during play. His career, spanning many clubs and countries, was characterized by intermittent flashes of flair and bouts of hard graft.
Burchill joined Celtic in the Premiership in Scotland in June 1997. His debut season (1998 - 1999) saw him make 21 first team appearances and score eight goals in league matches. The 1999 - 2000 season was another successful stint at Celtic with 27 first team appearances and 11 goals. Despite only making two appearances in the 2000 - 2001 season, Burchill managed a goal for his efforts.
A series of loan moves followed Burchill's time at Celtic. The first was a transfer to Birmingham City in the League One in England in September 2000, where he made 13 appearances and registered five goals in his count for the 2000 - 2001 season. His next loan move was to Ipswich Town in the Premier League in England in February 2001, making seven first team appearances and scoring a single goal in the remainder of the 2000 - 2001 season.
In August 2001, Burchill made a permanent move from Celtic to Portsmouth in the Championship in England for a fee of approximately £900,000. His time at Portsmouth was punctuated by a series of loan moves to several clubs, including Dundee, Wigan Athletic, and Sheffield Wednesday.
Following a string of temporary affiliations, Burchill made a full move from Portsmouth to Hearts in the Premiership in Scotland in January 2005. Post a half-season at Hearts, he headed to Dunfermline Athletic in the Championship in Scotland in July 2005, marking the beginning of a rewarding three-season career stint that witnessed him score 24 goals over 84 first team appearances.
Burchill's career then saw him oscillate between Rotherham United, Kilmarnock, Enosis Neon Paralimni in Cyprus, Sisaket in Thailand, and Livingston in Scotland with varying degrees of success. His last professional club was Livingston, where he played for two seasons (2013 - 2015) before making a transfer in December 2015. The subsequent whereabouts of Burchill remain rather elusive.
