Marley Watkins, a striker by trade, was born on the 17th of October 1990 and is currently plying his trade at Kilmarnock FC in Scotland. Of British origins, he marvels with his sportsmanship on the football field and stands 5 foot 10 inches tall (or 1.78m for those conversant with metric measurements) and tips the scales at 65 kilograms (or 10 stone 3 pounds in old money). His jersey famously bears the number 23.
In July 2008, Watkins started out his football career at Cheltenham Town, a team in England's League Two. During his two seasons with the club, he made a total of 25 first team appearances, finding the back of the net once.
In September 2010, he was loaned out to Bath City in England's National League South. But he made a permanent move to the club in January 2011 for an undisclosed fee, making an impressive total of 59 first team appearances and scoring eight goals over two seasons.
The subsequent years of his career saw him transferring to various clubs in quick successions. In July 2012, he transferred to Hereford United, where he made 34 first team appearances and scored five goals.
Likewise, in July 2013, Watkins transferred to Inverness CT in the Scottish League One, scoring eight goals over 59 appearances in two seasons.
The following years saw Watkins joining parts with various English clubs viz. Barnsley, Norwich City, Bristol City, and Cardiff City. His most successful stint during this period was at Barnsley PC where he managed to net the ball 15 times in 76 appearances.
In July 2018, he transferred to Bristol City for a fee of around £1m and had a spotty time there with occasional flashes of brilliance. In total he made 27 appearances scoring three goals during this period.
Watkins' nomadic career continued with him joining Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership on loan in August 2020. He made 56 appearances there and scored six goals during his two-and-half-season at the club. By June 2021, however, it seemed that Bristol City was calling his name once more, and so he returned from his loan.
Intriguingly, Watkins had short stints at a mystery club and then Cardiff City in England before he was loaned back to Aberdeen and then moved onto Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership in July 2023 for an undisclosed fee.
Since joining Kilmarnock, Watkins has made 75 appearances and scored 13 goals so far. This season, he has continued to impress with one start and three substitute appearances in the League Cup 2025 - 2026 for Kilmarnock.
Safe to say, Marley Watkins has earned his stripes in a career that has spanned across various clubs and leagues, creating an interesting narrative for football enthusiasts and statisticians alike.
