Maryan Shved is a Ukrainian right winger from Mykolaiv, born on 16 July 1997 (age 29). Compact at 5ft 7in (1.71m), he first made a proper mark with Karpaty Lviv, where his 2018–19 league season brought 14 goals in 24 appearances.
That form took him to Celtic in July 2019, arriving from Karpaty for around £2m. It was the sort of signing that looked interesting enough on paper, though Celtic have had no shortage of those. His spell in Glasgow never became a settled one, and in July 2021 he moved on to Mechelen.
After Celtic, Shved had spells with Mechelen and Shakhtar Donetsk before becoming more firmly established again at Karpaty Lviv. His career has therefore had a circular shape: early promise in Ukraine, a move to Scotland, a Belgian stop, time with Shakhtar, and then a fuller return to familiar ground.
His market value is around £850,000, according to Transfermarkt. Shved remains an established professional rather than a player whose Celtic chapter explains the whole career.
