Born on 22 August 2001, Mateusz Bogusz is a 24-year-old Polish midfielder currently plying his trade for Cruz Azul. Standing 1.75m (5ft 8in) tall and tipping the scales at 69kg (10st 12lb), Bogusz normally features as a central attacking midfielder donned in the number 7 jersey. His football journey expands beyond his club commitments as he has also represented the Poland national team.
As per Transfermarkt, Bogusz's current market value is estimated to be around £8.5m. His contract with Cruz Azul spans a remaining 1year and 2months, due to expire on 31 December 2026.
Bogusz's professional career kick-started when Ruch Chorzów from I Liga in Poland transferred him to Premier League outfit, Leeds United in January 2019 for a relative snip at £90k. His debut season in England was rather quiet, making a solitary first-team appearance in league games.
Switching English shores for sunny Spain, Bogusz was loaned to Second Division B/1 club Logroñés in October 2020. He had a decent run at Logroñés, notching up 23 first team appearances and a goal to his name. The following year, his transfer itinerary saw another loan spell, this time at Ibiza. His tenure here for seasons 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 saw him appear 42 times over the two seasons with a tally of six goals.
A transatlantic transfer ensued in March 2023, with Leeds United selling Bogusz to the Major League Soccer club, Los Angeles FC, for around £900k. His two seasons in LA were fairly prolific, as he bagged 18 goals from his 60 appearances.
Bogusz switched continents again in January 2025, moving from Los Angeles FC to Cruz Azul in the Liga MX in Mexico, commanding a transfer fee of around £7.2m. He has managed to net twice in his 23 games for Cruz Azul over seasons 2024 - 2025 and the current one.
Besides his club football journey, Bogusz also found international recognition. He took part in the World Cup Qualifiers Europe 2024 - 2026 for Poland with a solitary start and one appearance as a substitute. His contribution also extends to the Primera (Clausura) Liguilla 2024 - 2025 for Cruz Azul where he started twice accompanied with a substitute appearance as well as the Nations League 2024 - 2025 for Poland where he started twice. In the CONCACAF Champions Cup 2025, he turned out for Cruz Azul, netting once from his five starts.
