Born on the 25th of January in 2004, and now aged 21, Matthew Anderson, a Scotsman through and through, is a stalwart defender known for his solidity as a left back. Currently residing in Kortrijk's footballing ranks, Anderson measures an impressive 5ft 9in tall (1.76m) and boasts a healthy playing weight of 10st 5lb (66kg).
Back in July 2019, the young Anderson was first welcomed into the bosom of Celtic's Premiership team as a promising trainee. As a talent at Celtic, spanning a period well before the infamous 'Old Firm' debacle of 2013, Anderson provided a consistent and reliable defensive presence.
Processing mortgages of sorts for other teams, in August of 2023 he was transferred to Admira Wacker, in the Austrian 2. Liga. Upon arrival in Austria's green pastures, Anderson immediately demonstrated his valor and prowess on the pitch. In his debut season, 2023 - 2024, he made 21 first team appearances and even managed to bag himself a goal in league matches. His next season, 2024 - 2025, at Admira Wacker stood as a testament to his consistently good form, seeing Anderson make another 22 first team appearances, and again scoring a goal in league games.
Despite proving his worth in Austria, the Scottish lad's heart still belonged to his home nation, prompting his return to Celtic in July of 2024. However, his Celtic journey was temporarily interrupted as he was transferred back to Admira Wacker in September of the same year. During this period, Anderson only served to further cement his reputation for quality play, performing similarly to his first stint with Admira Wacker.
Come July 2025, Anderson, forever the globe-trotter, charted a course for new footballing lands, as he was transferred from Celtic to Kortrijk in Belgium's Challenger Pro League. While currently in the 2025 - 2026 season, Anderson has not yet made any first-team league appearances for Kortrijk, fans wait in eager anticipation for his debut on the Belgian stage.
