Maxime Bernauer is a French central defender, born on 1 July 1998 (age 27), now with Saint-Etienne, where he wears number 6. His market value is around £1.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
The substantial part of Bernauer’s career to date came at Paris FC. Across two seasons there, he made 65 league appearances and scored two goals, establishing himself as a regular rather than a passing squad name. His most productive league campaign was 2021–22, when he scored once in 30 appearances.
Bernauer has since moved on to Saint-Etienne. In 2025–26 he has made 13 league appearances without scoring, along with one Coupe de France appearance and three Ligue 1 play-off appearances, taking him to 17 matches in all competitions for the club.
His career so far has been built mainly on steady defensive work at Paris FC, followed by a place in the Saint-Etienne squad. It is a solid professional path, without much need for embroidery.
