Built like a brick outhouse at 6ft 2in (1.9m) and tipping the scales at 14st 6lb (92kg), Michael Brouwer is a commanding presence between the sticks. Hailing from the Netherlands, this bulwark goalkeeper, born on the 21st of January 1993, currently defends the net for FC Utrecht, donning the number 25 jersey. His current estimated market value amounts to roughly Β£255k, according to Transfermarkt.
Brouwer started his professional journey in AGOVV Apeldoorn in July of 2011. A year later, he took a step up, transferring to Heracles Almelo in the top-tier Eredivisie league in the Netherlands. This was a pivotal move in his career, spanning multiple seasons and varying degrees of contribution, from two appearances in his debut season to solid stints in the 2022-2023 season (38 appearances) and 2023-2024 season (34 appearances).
In July 2021, Brouwer had a brief detour, absorbing experience at FC Emmen on a loan spell, where he made a full seasonsβ worth of appearances (38). However, he quickly returned to Heracles Almelo in June 2022 and continued providing steadfast performances in goal.
The rollercoaster ride continued for Brouwer though, as by July 2024 he had moved again, this time to FC Utrecht. Despite making limited first-team appearances in his debut season and the current 2025-2026 season, the move seems to be a positive one, due to his participation in the KNVB Beker and the Europa League.
In a puzzling move, Brouwer found himself transferred to Jong Utrecht in the Eerste Divisie in August 2025, only to be thrust back into the arms of FC Utrecht shortly afterward. He has made only a single appearance for Jong Utrecht in the current season. One can only hope this goalkeeper's journey becomes less convoluted, his talent deserves a settled and stable career.
