Michel-Ange Balikwisha, born May 10 2001 (now aged 24) in Belgium, is currently playing as a left winger for Celtic. At 5ft 10in (1.78m) tall and weighing in at 11st (70kg), he is adorned with the number 10 shirt and has made his mark on the field, previously representing the Belgium U21 national team.
It's noted that his current market value is in the region of £4.2m. This information comes courtesy of Transfermarkt, an esteemed source for these matters.
We trace his steps back to July 2014, when Balikwisha joined Standard Liege in the Pro League in his home country of Belgium. He was still a trainee then, but the potential was there for all to see. A debut was offered to him in the 2020 - 2021 season, where he appeared 26 times and managed to bag seven goals for the team.
In July 2021, he moved on from Standard Liege to join Royal Antwerp, also in the Pro League in Belgium. The transfer sum rounded to £4.5m. His statistics built up well over the seasons, consistently making over 25 appearances and maintaining a scoring streak. The 2021 - 2022 season saw him score four times, with six in 2022 - 2023, and five in 2023 - 2024. The following season, he made only five starts, but still remains a consistent figure in the 2025 - 2026 season with a goal to his name.
Come August 2025, Celtic came calling for Balikwisha's signature on a contract. The Belgian transferred over from the Pro League to the Scottish Premiership, for a fee left undisclosed. Though relatively new to the setting, Balikwisha has already made seven first team appearances for the club this current 2025 - 2026 season.
Aside from league duties, he's also known on the international scale. He has participated in the 2025 Africa CON for Belgium U21 with three appearances as a substitute. For Celtic, he's made appearances in both the League Cup 2025 - 2026 and Scottish Cup 2025 - 2026. He's displayed his skills in the World Cup Qualifiers Africa 2024 - 2026 for Belgium U21 and has stepped out onto the Europa League 2025 - 2026 pitch for Celtic on four occasions.
