Mohamed Elyounoussi, born on the 4th of August 1994 in Morocco, is a forward who predominantly operates as a left winger for FC Copenhagen. He stands at 5ft 10in (1.78m) tall and weighs in at 11 stone (70kg). The Moroccan international sports the number 10 jersey for his current club. The place of his birth aside, his talent makes him a worldwide football figure.
His current market value rests around €5.00m, which translates roughly to £4.3m, according to Transfermarkt.
In the frigid month of January 2011, Elyounoussi embarked on his professional career, joining Sarpsborg 08 in the Eliteserien in Norway. His debut season turned out to be a modest one as he made nine appearances for the first team in league matches. His breakthrough arrived in the 2013 season where he turned in 29 appearances and contributed six goals to his team's tally for the term.
In a swift march of 2014, he transferred to fellow Eliteserien club Molde, for an undisclosed fee. His time at Molde saw him make a more significant splash, scoring 13 goals in 30 appearances in the 2014 season, 12 in 28 in the 2015 season, and 5 in 12 in the 2016 season.
In the summer of 2016, Elyounoussi made a move to Basel in the Swiss Super League for a fee of around £2.8m. He found the back of the net consistently in his two seasons with Basel, scoring ten goals in each season.
The summer of 2018 saw him hopping across to English soil where he joined Southampton in the English Championship for a fee of around £16m. His goal returns were rather scattered across his different seasons with the Saints, scoring four goals in the 2021-2022 season but only one in the 2022-2023 season.
August 2019 saw Elyounoussi trading the English south coast for the Scottish north-west, moving to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership on a temporary loan deal. And it was here at Parkhead Elyounoussi would rediscover his love for finding the back of the net, contributing ten goals in the 2020-2021 season, only his second season with the Bhoys. He made 34 appearances this season - a zenith of his time at Celtic.
Come June 2021, his stint at Celtic came to a close and Elyounoussi returned to his parent club, Southampton. His performance, however, seemed somewhat dampened with only four goals across 30 appearances in the 2021-2022 season, and further diminishing to a single goal in 33 appearances in the following season.
In the summer of 2023, Elyounoussi made yet another move, this time to FC Copenhagen in the Danish Superliga. Since joining, he has notched up significant numbers, scoring 21 goals across 67 appearances over three seasons, at the time of writing. Alongside his laudable league play, Elyounoussi has been sparkling on the world stage as well, featuring in the Champions League and champions league qualifiers with Copenhagen, tallying four goals in total.
