Morten Wieghorst, born on the 25th of February 1971, hails from Denmark. He is recognised primarily for his performances as a midfielder. With a towering height of 6ft 3in (1.91m) and a solid physique weighing in at 13st 3lb (84kg), Wieghorst was an imposing figure on the football pitch.
Wieghorst's professional footballing career commenced in July 1989 when he joined Lyngby, a part of the Superliga in Denmark. In December 1992, he made his move from Danish footballing scene to the Scottish Premiership with Dundee, with a transfer fee amounting to approximately £150,000. He had a notable stint at Dundee, with a sum total of 90 first team appearances over four seasons, and scoring eleven goals in league matches.
In December 1995, Wieghorst transitioned from Dundee to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, with the transfer fee reaching roughly £400,000. His time at Celtic was decorated with several memorable instances. His debut season saw him participating in 11 first team games and scoring once. Over the following seasons (1996 - 2002) at Celtic, the 6'3" Dane made more than 86 appearances in the league and hit the back of the net a collective 11 times. Although his first team game time witnessed a drastic drop in the 2000/2001 season with no appearances, he did make a brief return in the following season with three appearances in league matches.
In June 2002, Wieghorst waved goodbye to the Scottish Premiership and Celtic, making his way back to his homeland. He transferred to Brondby in the Superliga, Denmark. His time back in Denmark saw him partake in 64 league matches over three seasons and put up a commendable display of skills with 14 goals to his name. In June 2005, he moved once again, signalling the end of a hefty, illustrious footballing career.
