Nick Viergever, born on 3 August 1989 (age 36), is a Dutch central defender with FC Utrecht. He wears number 24 and remains a regular first-team presence in 2025–26, which is the relevant point at this stage of his career rather than any grand reinvention.
His most productive league season came at AZ in 2013–14, when he scored three goals in 33 appearances. That tells its own story: primarily a defender, but one capable of adding the occasional contribution at the other end when the chance presented itself.
At Utrecht in 2025–26, Viergever has made 25 Eredivisie appearances and 41 in all competitions, scoring twice in Europa League qualifying. He has also featured in the KNVB Beker, Europa League and European play-offs, so he has not drifted into the background. His current market value is around £298,000, according to Transfermarkt.
Viergever’s career is that of an experienced Dutch centre-half still trusted for regular minutes at Utrecht. The goals have never been the main point; the durability plainly still is.
