Nicky Cadden, born 19 September 1996 in Scotland, presently applies his trades in Hibernian colours in the capacity of a left back. Standing at 5ft 8in (1.73m) and weighing 11st 9lb (74kg), he dons the number 19 jersey preserving the legacy of past greats.
We trace back his career to July 2013 when Cadden broke into the professional sphere with Airdrieonians in the Championship, Scottish leagues. In his debut season of 2013-2014, he received nods to feature in twelve league appearances. Despite this promising start, the following season saw a decline in opportunities with only four league appearances in his portfolio. The 2015-2016 season signalled a resurgence for Cadden, being entrusted in twenty-four league matches and repaying the faith with three goals.
July 2016 marked a shift in Cadden's career as he was roped in by Livingston, still in the Scottish Championship. This spell was met with a wave of success for the left back, notching up thirty-four league appearances with six goals in the 2016-2017 season. A further two seasons with Livingston saw Cadden consistently break into the first team, amassing a total of twenty-four appearances.
The beginning of 2019 presented a new adventure for the Scottish defender, moving to Ayr United on loan. His time at Ayr United paved the path to a subsequent move to Greenock Morton in July 2019. Cadden's return to the Championship in Scotland was short-lived as he was transferred to Forest Green Rovers in the National League in England in July 2020, shifting locales for an undisclosed fee.
The 2022 summer saw Cadden climb up the English football league hierarchy, transferring to Barnsley in League One in England. In his first season, he managed to feature heavily for the first team, amassing twenty-six appearances and tallying three goals. The pull of Scottish football was irresistible for the seasoned defender, as he returned to the Premiership with a move to Hibernian in August 2024.
To date in the 2024-2025 season, Cadden has made nine first team appearances and pitched in with three goals. Alongside his contributions in the league, he has also seen action in the League Cup 2024-2025 for Hibernian as a substitute.
Throughout his career, Nicky Cadden has made a name for himself as a stalwart defender in both Scottish and English football circuits, demonstrating his perseverance and dedication to his craft.
