Let's turn our attentions to Mr. Nicky Hogarth. Born on the 4th of July, 2001, a patriotic date for our friends across the pond but rather a commonplace one for a lad brought up in Scotland. At the ripe age of 23, he's embarked on a mobility-driven career in the Scottish football scene, where one day you're a trainee and the next you're donning the number 1 jersey.
Known not for his towering height but rather a decent stretch of 5ft 11in (or 1.82m for those partial to a more continental approach), Mr. Hogarth tips the scales at a sturdy 11stone 6lb (or 73kg if you’ve switched to a metric). Essentially, the kind of build you'd want in a goalkeeper, especially if you're Falkirk and he's your last line of defence.
In what can only be described as a whimsical ride through Scottish football, in July 2017, Hogarth planted his skinny-cat roots in Rangers as a trainee. Quite the move, don’t you think?
Displaying a delightful dauntlessness (or potentially soliciting some game time), in 2020 Hogarth shook Rangers’ dust off and went gallivanting off to Stirling Albion, then Cowdenbeath for loan spells. The Championship, Lowland League — Hogarth’s been on a wee tour of Scotland's football echelons imaginable.
A footballer’s career wouldn't be complete without a dab of English flair, and thus, our lad ventured southwards to Nottingham Forest in 2021’s summer. The Premier League's bright lights and all that jazz, yes?
But lo and behold, the forest's allure was short-lived and soon, Hogarth returned to Falkirk on loan, ending up making 15 first-team appearances in his debut season 2022-2023. In this current season, he’s clocked up nine first-team appearances so far. Looks like Hogarth found his tribe, eh!
Indeed, the prodigal son indeed returned to Falkirk in full transfer glory in July 2023. After some shirt swapping and a few muddy dives, Hogarth's now been handed the task of defending Falkirk’s post at the League Cup in 2024-2025 with five starts under his belt. Quite the meteoric rise for our keeper, eh?
One has to remember though – it’s not the jersey number but what's behind it. For young Hogarth, let's hope that's true. Here's to more first-team games, lad!
