Nir Bitton, an Israeli footballer, was born on the 30th of October 1991 and at age 34, he serves as a central defender for FC Ashdod. He stands at an imposing height of 6ft 5in (1.96m) and weighs 12st 8lb (80kg).
Bitton embarked on his football journey at a very tender age, training with FC Ashdod in the Premier League in Israel from July 1997. This commitment bore fruit several years later when Bitton made his senior team debut in the 2009/2010 season. He made a notable contribution with 21 appearances and a goal during the league matches. His performance sustained an upward trajectory over the subsequent seasons, making a total of 31 appearances and netting 4 goals in the 2012/2013 season.
Bitton's prowess was not confined to Israel. In August 2013, he crossed over to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, with the transfer from FC Ashdod estimated to be around £700k. His inaugural season at Celtic saw him make 15 appearances during league matches, and his influence only blossomed from there. During the 2014/2015 season, Bitton chalked up 31 appearances capped with two goals, and in the following season improved his tally to five goals from 30 appearances.
Notwithstanding a setback in the form of reduced appearances due to injury in the 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 seasons, Bitton remained an influential figure in the times he took to the pitch. Resiliently bouncing back, he ended his Celtic career on a positive note with 24 appearances and a goal in the 2021/2022 season.
In July 2022, Bitton transitioned back to his native land transferring from Celtic to Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Premier League in Israel. After a brief spell, he moved again in January 2025, once again donning the FC Ashdod colours, marking a full circle return to his boyhood club. As it stands in the current football season (2025/2026), Bitton has made six first team appearances in league matches.
