Oliver Burke, born in Scotland on the 7th of April 1997, is a forward known for his prowess on the right wing. Currently playing for Union Berlin, this 6ft 2in tall (1.88m) athlete weighs a sturdy 12st 12lb (82kg), and proudly wears the number 7 jersey.
Acquiring his initial training at Nottingham Forest, he made his entry into the Premier League in England, in July 2005. After a brief stint on loan with Bradford City, he returned to Nottingham Forest where across various seasons, his impact was sporadic but occasionally pronounced, with performances varying from 2 to 20 first team appearances per season, and goals ranging from 2 to 4.
In August 2016, an exciting transfer took place. Moving from Nottingham Forest to RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga in Germany, Burke managed to secure a healthy fee of around £13m. After spending a year in Germany, he was bounced back to England, this time to West Bromwich Albion in the Championship, for an elevated figure of £15m. However, his performances did not pick up noticeably as he only managed between 2 and 15 appearances per season.
January 2019 brought a return home for Burke, albeit temporarily. He transferred to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership on loan, where in the season of 2018 - 2019, he made 14 first-team appearances and scored four goals. Even though his time at Celtic was short-lived, the club celebrated his contribution and his time at Celtic Park was warmly acclaimed and remembered by the green and white faithful.
Burke's career then took him on another loan spell, this time to Alaves in Spain, followed by a stint at Sheffield United in England. These transitions saw variable performances, with appearances ranging from 3 to 31 per season, and goals meandering between 1 and 2.
Eventually, a series of loan spells saw Burke land, once again, in German soil. He joined Werder Bremen, after a period on loan at Millwall, for an undisclosed fee. After seasons going back and forth between Germany and England, Burke found his feet at Bremen where he consistently played 15-25 games per season and scored 2-5 goals.
His latest journey sees him at Union Berlin, still in the Bundesliga. Thus far, in the current 2025-2026 season, he has followed his consistent pattern of 25 appearances and five goals, proving once again his evergreen worth to the teams that he serves.
