Olivier Kapo, born on the 27th of September 1980 in Ivory Coast, was an elite forward with a preference for the left-wing position. He possessed an impressive stature, standing at 6ft (1.83m) and maintaining a steady weight of 11st 4lbs (72kg).
Kapo began his illustrious career in July 1996, when he joined the French Ligue 1 club Auxerre as a trainee. He made his first team debut in the 1999 - 2000 season and soon established himself as a reliable forward, making 15 appearances and netting three goals. Kapo remained a vital asset for Auxerre for several seasons, amassing a total of 183 first team appearances and scoring 31 goals.
In July 2004, Kapo transferred to the Italian Serie A powerhouses Juventus, where he made a modest 14 first team appearances in the league during the 2004 - 2005 season.
The subsequent years saw Kapo embarking on several loan spells, first to Monaco and Levante UD. However, his career trajectory took a turn when he transferred from Juventus to Birmingham City in the League One in England for a fee of roundly about £3m in June 2007. He demonstrated impressive exploits in the 2007 - 2008 season, making 26 first team appearances and scoring five goals.
The fever of transfers seemed to carry on, as he then moved from Birmingham City to Wigan Athletic, again in England's League One, for a fee of around £3.5m. Unfortunately, Kapo's stint at Wigan was less impressive, as he struggled for first team appearances, particularly in the 2009-10 season.
Kapo was then loaned out to US Boulogne CO in the French Championnat National, making a reasonable number of appearances and scoring two goals. In November 2010, Kapo transferred from Wigan Athletic to Celtic in the Premiership in Scotland. His time at Celtic was short-lived, making only two first team appearances in league matches before moving on to Al-Ahli Saudi in the Professional League in Saudi Arabia in January 2011.
Stirring the memoirs of his promising years, Kapo returned to Auxerre in January 2012, where he managed to get back into his stride, making a commendable number of appearances and netting 12 goals overall across two seasons.
After a brief period of uncertainty post his Auxerre return, Kapo joined Levadiakos in the Super League in Greece in August 2013, making 19 first team appearances and scoring two goals. Kapo transferred to Korona Kielce in the Ekstraklasa in Poland in July 2014, marking his last known professional stint, where he made 27 first team appearances and scored seven goals.
