Patrick Roberts, born on the 5th of February 1997 (age 28), in England, is a forward primarily playing as a right winger for Sunderland. Standing at 5ft 5in in height (1.67m), and weighing in at 10st 5lb (66kg), he usually adorns the number 10 jersey on his back.
Roberts initiated his career in the English Premier League, joining Fulham in July 2012. Over the subsequent two seasons (2013-2015), he grew into his role, making a total of 19 first team appearances in league matches.
A significant moment in his career came in July 2015 when he transferred from Fulham to Manchester City for a hefty fee of around £11m. However, his spell at City was not as prosperous as expected as he made only one first team appearance in the 2015-2016 season.
In need of playing time, Roberts transferred to Celtic, Scotland on loan in February 2016. This move proved fruitful for him as he made 11 first team appearances and scored six goals in the same season. Over the next two seasons (2016-2018), he made a combined total of 44 first-team league appearances and added nine goals to his name.
Despite his success at Celtic, Roberts went on another loan spell, this time with Girona in Spain's La Liga during the 2018-2019 season, where he made 19 first-team appearances. Further loan spells at Norwich City, Middlesbrough, and Derby County in England, from 2019-2021, added another batch of first-team appearances and a few goals to his tally.
After a brief stint in France, playing for Troyes in the 2021-2022 season, Roberts again returned to English football. In January 2022, he transferred from Manchester City to Sunderland. Evidently settling well, he made 42 first team appearances and scored five goals in the 2022-2023 season. Keeping a consistent performance, he continues to be a significant player in the current 2024-2025 season, with already 45 first team appearances and two goals to his record.
In addition, he actively participated in the Championship Play-offs 2024-2025 for Sunderland, making two starts and one appearance as a substitute.
