Pau Torres, born on 16 January 1997 (age 29), is a Spanish centre-back with Aston Villa. A commanding 6ft 4in (1.92m), he came through at Villarreal before a loan spell at Málaga gave him the regular senior football that young defenders tend to need, rather than merely be told they need.
He returned to Villarreal a more settled player and became a fixture in their back line. His most productive league season came in 2021-22, when he scored five goals in 33 appearances, a useful return for a defender whose main value was still in the structure of the side rather than the other box.
Torres later moved to Aston Villa, where he remains a regular first-team presence in 2025-26. He has made 21 Premier League appearances this season, along with two in the FA Cup, one in the League Cup and 12 in the Europa League, giving him 36 appearances in all competitions without a goal.
His current market value is around £38.5m, according to Transfermarkt. His career has moved cleanly from Villarreal development, through a useful loan, into a leading role in England, where he remains part of Villa’s first-team plans.
