Our legend, Paul Lambert, was born in Scotland on the 7th of August, 1969. A stalwart midfielder with a stance of 5ft 10in (1.8m) and weight of 10st 9lb (68kg), Lambert was an irreplaceable cog in the Celtic wheel.
In July 1985, Lambert first made a name for himself in the Scottish Premiership with St Mirren. Starting as a trainee, he made fair strides, debuting in the 1985-1986 season and securing his place in the first-team by the 1986-1987 season, during which he made 36 appearances and elevated the team's performance with 2 goals. Lambert continued his spell with St Mirren till the 1993-1994 season, where he completed an impressive run of 269 appearances with 14 goals to his name.
His undeniable talent drew him away from St Mirren in September 1993, when Lambert joined Motherwell in the Premiership for a fee of around £200k. He continued his commendable performance with the first team, contributing 6 goals over 103 appearances during his three seasons with the club.
In July 1996, Lambert’s compelling performances saw him transfer to the esteemed Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, Germany. His tenure there was brief but impactful, making a total of 44 appearances.
But nothing compares to the homecoming in November 1997 when Lambert, being valued at £1.8m, was transferred to the beloved Celtic. This is when Lambert truly established himself as a formidable force. Lambert was instrumental to the club, from the 1997-1998 season to the 2004-2005 season. Gracing the Celtic turf, Lambert made 193 appearances, his goal tally a considerable sum of 13.
Finally, in July 2005, the unforgettable Celtic hero Lambert transferred to Livingston, where he made his final seven appearances in the Scottish Championship for the 2005-2006 season. His departure from Celtic left an irreplaceable void in the team's formation, his contribution to the club forever engraved in the annals of Celtic FC history.
