Pierre Ekwah, born on the 15th of January 2002, a French national, is a midfielder characterised primarily by his role as a central defensive midfielder. At 23 years of age, Ekwah finds his home in Saint-Etienne, one of the respected teams of Ligue 2 in France. He stands at an imposing height of 1.89m (roughly 6ft 2in) and his athletic physique is further defined by his weight of 78kg (around 12st 3lb).
As of the current financial assessments, Ekwah's market value is around £6 million, a figure provided by Transfermarkt.
July 2021 marked a significant point in Ekwah's professional journey. It was during this time that he experienced his first transition, moving from Chelsea to West Ham United. Unfortunately, details of the transfer fee remain undisclosed. Just a year and a half later, in January 2023, another transfer was arranged. This time, Ekwah moved, yet again within the English Premier League, from West Ham United to Sunderland. However, it seems the details of the financial end of this deal were kept under wraps as well.
His debut season, during 2022 - 2023 at Sunderland, he made 14 first team appearances in league matches, a commendable performance rendering his potential to the club. His performances continued to improve during the next season, and Ekwah became more of a regular with 40 first team appearances and even netted five goals.
In August 2024, Sunderland loaned Ekwah out to Saint-Etienne, a French club under the shield of Ligue 2. During that season, Ekwah managed 29 first team appearances and again found the back of the net, scoring a goal in the process. However, during the current season of 2025 - 2026 at Saint-Etienne, Ekwah and first team appearances have yet to cross paths.
It was in August 2025 that Sunderland decided to off-load Ekwah entirely. Seizing the opportunity, Saint-Etienne gladly paid a sum close to £5.2 million to secure his services in France. Ekwah, despite moving clubs, was already quite familiar with Saint-Etienne from his previous season on loan. His first season includes 29 first team appearances while scoring a goal. Moving onto to his current season in 2025 - 2026, Ekwah is yet to make a first team appearance in league matches for Saint-Etienne.
