Remo Freuler, a Swiss football professional, was born in Switzerland on the 15th of April, 1992, now aged 33. This lad isn't much of a powerhouse, standing at just 5ft 11in (1.81m) and weighing in around 12st 1lb (77kg). Despite his unassuming stature, he's proven himself to be a steadfast and versatile midfielder, primarily operating as a central defensive midfielder. At the moment, he plies his trade for the Italian club Bologna wearing number 8 on his back.
Freuler also wears his country's colours with pride, having been selected to represent Switzerland on numerous occasions. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is hovering around the €5.00m mark, or roughly £4m when converted to our fair currency.
His professional career started with Grasshoppers in Switzerland in the 2010 - 2011 season. The season was more baptism by fire than storming debut, with five appearances and a single goal to his name. The next season saw a slight uptick in appearances to seven, but no additional goals.
He transitioned to another Swiss side, Luzern, in the 2013 - 2014 season. Over the course of three seasons with Luzern, Freuler had a total of 63 appearances and nine goals to his name.
The 2015 - 2016 season was a turning point in his career as he moved to Italian club Atalanta. With Atalanta, Freuler enjoyed consistent first-team action, amassing 203 appearances and 17 goals over six seasons.
However, brief pastures new were calling and Freuler was enticed to Nottingham Forest in England for the 2022 - 2023 season. His tenure at Forest consisted solely of 28 first-team appearances, before he made a hasty return to Italy and joined Bologna for the 2023 - 2024 season. Here, he's held his own, with 71 appearances and three goals over the course of three seasons, including two appearances so far in the current 2025 - 2026 season.
His international appearances for Switzerland include Euro 2024, where he scored one goal in five starts, and Euro Qualifiers 2022 - 2024, where he found the back of the net twice in nine starts (and one appearance off the bench). Freuler also played in the Nations League 2024 - 2025 for Switzerland, scoring a single goal in six starts.
