Robbie Keane, born on 8 July 1980 (age 45), was a Republic of Ireland striker whose career was built on sharp movement, quick feet and a fairly relentless appetite for goals. He broke through at Wolves as a teenager before moving through Coventry City, Inter Milan and Leeds United, a restless early path that still left him with enough education to become a reliable top-level forward.
Tottenham Hotspur became the main English club of his career. Keaneโs first spell there gave him regular football, responsibility and the platform for his best Premier League years. A move to Liverpool followed, but it was brief, and he returned to Spurs before his Celtic spell arrived in February 2010.
Keane joined Celtic from Tottenham Hotspur on loan in February 2010, a signing that brought obvious quality into a side short of certainty. He was not at Celtic for long, but he made the spell count, scoring heavily and giving the attack a bit of polish it had been missing. It was a loan rather than a legacy, but it was a productive one.
After Celtic, he had further loan spells before moving to LA Galaxy, where he added a different chapter rather than simply winding down. His most productive league season came there in 2015, when he scored 20 goals in 24 appearances.
Keaneโs career ran from early promise at Wolves to established spells in England, a short but effective stop at Celtic, and a strong late period in the United States. He was never short of clubs, but the common thread was straightforward enough: he scored goals wherever he settled for any length of time.
