Ryan Christie, born in Inverness on 22 February 1995 (age 31), came through at Inverness CT before Celtic paid around £500,000 for him in September 2015. He arrived as a talented Scottish midfielder rather than a finished article, and the early loan spells that followed were important in turning promise into something more useful.
At Celtic, Christie eventually forced his way into proper first-team relevance. His best league return came in 2019–2020, when he scored 11 goals in 24 appearances, a season that showed the sharpness and timing in his game without pretending he was ever the neatest fit in one fixed role.
He left Celtic for Bournemouth in August 2021 and has since settled into a different version of himself. Now used primarily as a central defensive midfielder, he remains part of the Bournemouth side rather than a name drifting around the squad list. In 2025–2026, he has made 27 appearances in all competitions for the club, including 26 in the Premier League, with two goals.
Christie has also stayed involved with Scotland, making five European World Cup qualifying appearances this season and scoring twice. His career has moved from Inverness promise, through a significant Celtic spell, to regular Premier League football with Bournemouth.
