Gather 'round for a tale worth hearing, that of Ryan Mullen; birthed on the 18th of May, 2001. The lad, now 24 years of age, sprouted from the green terrain of good old Scotland. Himself quite a piece of terrain, standing 6ft 2in (1.88m) tall and throwing his weight around, a solid 12st 8lb (80kg). A dab hand at stopping projectiles, Mullen's currently guarding the goal at St Mirren, proudly wearing the number 31.
In the beguiling world of football, Mullen's journey has been a maelstrom of transfers. As summer faded in 2020, our hero upped sticks at Celtic, where he'd put in a two-year shift, hoping for greener pastures down the road at Cove Rangers. Yes, the very same Celtic of the Premiership, as compared to the less prestigious League One digs at Cove Rangers. But serenity didn't last in this so-called holiday, and with only a breath of autumn, Mullen was back in the bosom of Celtic.
The spring of 2021 found Mullen again itching for a change, this time taking his talents down to Queen's Park of the Championship. But alas, dear readers, the love affair ended all too soon, and come summer, Mullen was again Celtic-bound.
However, Celtic and Mullen were not to be the perfect match and in September 2022, Mullen was off to the humble abode of Clyde in the League Two. His debut season at Clyde saw him don the first team jersey a grand total of three times, a performance worth writing home about, don't you agree?.
By July 2023, Mullen was ready for yet another change of scene, waving 'bye' to the Clyde and 'hi' to Greenock Morton, over in the Championship. The 2023-2024 season down at Greenock Morton, he put on the first team colours twenty-three times. Not to rest on his laurels, he one-upped himself the next season - 2024-2025, with a hefty 24 first team appearances.
However, the wanderlust didn't end there, and Mullen found himself leaving the familiar Greenock Morton behind in July 2025 to join St Mirren.. No molecule of grass was ever spared by his proverbial boots in the Premiership during the 2025-2026 season, as he is yet to make a first team appearance.
But wait, don't shed a tear for our wandering goalie just yet. He did make a blazing appearance in the League Cup 2025 - 2026 for St Mirren, where he managed to start. Now isn't that a tale worth retelling?
