Ryōya Morishita, born on 11 April 1997 (age 29), is a compact Japanese attacking midfielder now with Blackburn Rovers. At 5ft 7in (1.70m), he is not built to dominate physically, so his value is in movement, timing and finding pockets rather than making a fuss about it.
His strongest league return came at Legia Warsaw in 2024-2025, when he scored six goals in 31 appearances. That season remains the clearest marker of his productivity in Europe, and his current market value is around £1.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
At Blackburn in 2026-2027, Morishita has made 10 appearances across all competitions, including eight in the Championship and two in the League Cup. His two goals have both come in league football.
He was linked with a move to Celtic in September 2026. For now, his career is best read as that of an established Japanese midfielder who has built a European profile through Legia Warsaw and Blackburn, with enough end product to keep him on recruitment lists.
