Saidy Janko, born on 22 October 1995 (age 30), is a Gambian right-back with Young Boys. He came through the Manchester United system and had a useful loan spell at Bolton Wanderers in 2014-15, when he made 10 league appearances and scored once – still his most productive league season.
Celtic signed him from Manchester United in July 2015 for around £700,000. It was a move that made sense on paper: young, quick, schooled at a major English club and with room to develop. His Celtic spell, though, never quite settled into anything substantial, and he left in July 2017 for Saint-Etienne.
After Celtic, Janko moved through Saint-Etienne, Porto and Real Valladolid before finding a more settled place at Young Boys. His current market value is around £425,000, according to Transfermarkt.
In 2026-27, he has made one Swiss Super League appearance for Young Boys and has also represented Gambia once in World Cup qualifying. His career has taken him from Manchester United’s youth set-up to Celtic and then across several European leagues, with Young Boys now the club where he has had his more established later spell.
