Scott McKenna, born on 12 November 1996 (age 29), is a Scotland centre-half currently with Dinamo Zagreb. He came through at Aberdeen, with early loan spells giving him the sort of senior football young defenders tend to need before anyone trusts them with proper responsibility.
His breakthrough at Aberdeen was not subtle. The 2017-2018 season remains his most productive in league terms, with three goals in 30 appearances, and it helped establish him as more than another tall Scottish defender doing the basics loudly. From there, his career moved beyond Pittodrie and into a broader European path.
At Dinamo Zagreb in 2025-2026, McKenna has remained a regular first-team presence. He has made 30 HNL appearances, scoring twice, and has also played 10 times in the Europa League, taking him to 40 appearances and two goals for the club across all competitions. He has also stayed involved with Scotland, making five appearances in European World Cup qualifying this season.
His current market value is around ยฃ3.5m, according to Transfermarkt. He was linked with a move to Celtic in May 2026 while at Dinamo Zagreb.
McKennaโs career has been built steadily: Aberdeen development, early senior experience on loan, a strong domestic breakthrough, and a current role as a regular defender for Dinamo Zagreb and Scotland.
